Abstract

Objectives: To describe two variants, C677T and A1298C, of the MTHFR gene in patients diagnosed with cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT).
Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 58 patients whose ages ≥ 18, were diagnosed with CVT by magnetic resonance venography at Bach Mai Hospital and Hanoi Medical University Hospital from June 2022 to October 2023.
Results: The average age was 43.76 ± 12.902; the average age of the male group was 7.4 years older than that of the female group; the male/female ratio was equal. 65,5% of individuals carried MTHFR gene variants, with homozygous rates for C677T and A1298C at 3.4% each.
Conclusion: This study investigates the prevalence of MTHFR gene variants in patients with CVT.
