Abstract
Introduction: Patient handover is a critical component of nursing care that directly affects safety and treatment outcomes. The SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) communication model is recommended to standardize handovers, reduce errors, and strengthen teamwork among healthcare providers.
Objectives: To describe nurses’ perceptions, attitudes, and related factors after SBAR training at the Neurosurgical Center, Viet Duc University Hospital in 2024.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 87 nurses using a standardized questionnaire, including perception and attitude scales. Data were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 with descriptive and inferential statistics.
Results: The mean scores of knowledge, attitude, were 13.03 ± 1.97, 31.53 ± 8.27, respectively. Knowledge differed by department (p=0.006); attitude differed by educational level and training frequency. Department, education level, and training frequency were associated to perception of nurse after SBAR training.
Conclusions: SBAR training showed promising effects. However, regular reinforcement and department-specific adjustments are needed to enhance its integration into clinical practice.
