Abstract
Background: Stroke remains a major medical concern. Individuals with hypertension are at significantly higher risk of stroke, while knowledge regarding stroke prevention among high-risk populations, including hypertensive patients, is still relatively limited.
Objectives: To assess knowledge of stroke prevention and explore associated factors among hypertensive inpatients at Tay Nguyen Regional General Hospital in 2024.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from January to June 2024 on 303 hypertensive inpatients who met the sampling criteria at Tay Nguyen regional general Hospital.
Results: The proportion of hypertensive patients with good knowledge of stroke prevention was 84.5%. Independent factors associated with good knowledge of stroke prevention included being of Kinh ethnicity, high educational level, receiving information about stroke, and not having comorbid diabetes.
Conclusions: The proportion of hypertensive patients with good knowledge of stroke prevention was high. Independent factors associated with good knowledge of stroke prevention were belonging to the Kinh ethnic group, high educational level, receiving information about stroke, and not having comorbid diabetes.
