Abstract
Movement disorders are extremely common and diverse symptoms in patients with autoimmune encephalitis (AE) and paraneoplastic neurological syndromes (PNS). They can be primary symptoms or signs of complex clinical conditions. Early diagnosis of AE or PNS is crucial as the diseases can respond well to immune therapy. Clinically, AE and PNS are often misdiagnosed with infectious diseases, metabolic disorders, genetic diseases, and degenerative disorders. Furthermore, accurately identifying the symptoms is challenging. However, each type of autoimmune encephalitis still has highly specific characteristics such as age, gender, and associated cancer type. In today's article, we will present updated knowledge on movement disorders related to AE and PNS, as well as the mechanisms leading to these disorders.
